Kathryn Sanders, L.Ac., first discovered her love for holistic approaches to body work and medicine when she spent most of her waking hours dancing. Both as a performer and as a teacher of dance, she had devoted much time towards practicing self-care and on nurturing health while being faced with the great demands of professional work. Kathryn came to acupuncture and Chinese medicine when she needed treatment for multiple injuries from a debilitating automobile accident. These treatments were tremendously helpful during her recovery and inspired her to become an acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist in her own right. She is deeply grateful for her teachers, who have imparted invaluable lessons in the cultivation of Qi and benefiting well-being.
Kathryn Sanders, L.Ac., holds a Master’s degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the Seattle Institute of Oriental Medicine in Seattle, WA. During that time she studied under master practitioners of both Japanese and Chinese styles of acupuncture as well as received a comprehensive education from master Chinese herbalists. While living in Seattle, Kathryn had the opportunity to practice in diverse clinical settings, including Asian Counseling and Referral Service, VA Puget Sound Health Care System, and Evergreen Treatment Services. She assisted Jason D. Robertson, L.Ac. at his private clinic.
Kathryn is licensed to practice acupuncture in the state of New York and is board certified with the NCCAOM (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine) as a diplomate in Oriental Medicine. Alongside her private practice, Kathryn is developing and oversees the acupuncture treatment readiness program for substance abuse as part of the Brooklyn residential division of Lutheran Social Services of New York.
